Industry Sour

About the Industry Sour cocktail

The Industry Sour combines two of the boldest herbal ingredients in the bar: Fernet and Green Chartreuse, sharpened with lime juice. It sounds like an inside joke, but the first sip is delicious: lime freshens the Chartreuse while Fernet’s warm bitterness keeps the drink in balance.

Ted Kilgore created the cocktail in 2011 in St. Louis, Missouri, for a visiting bartender, which is how it got its name. It is also called the Industry Sour because Fernet and Chartreuse are bartender favorites: punchy, in-your-face flavors that have helped the drink become a modern classic among those who love herbal cocktails.
