  1. Chill an old-fashioned glass.
  2. Muddle the ginger in the base of a shaker.
  3. Add all remaining ingredients except the peated whiskey to the shaker.
  4. Add ice and shake until well chilled (about 10–15 seconds).
  5. Strain over fresh ice into the chilled glass.
  6. Float the peated whiskey on top.
  7. Garnish with candied ginger slices.
