  1. Chill a collins glass.
  2. Muddle the fresh ginger gently in the base of a shaker.
  3. Add simple syrup (2:1), honey, lime juice to a shaker and stir to dissolve.
  4. Add gold rum and ice, then shake until well chilled (about 10–15 seconds).
  5. Double strain over fresh ice into the chilled glass.
  6. Top with ginger ale and stir gently.
  7. Garnish with a lime wedge.
