About the Daiquiri cocktail

The Daiquiri is a classic rum cocktail made with white rum, fresh lime juice, and sugar. It is bright, tart, and crisp, with clean rum flavor, punchy citrus, and just enough sweetness to round off the edges without making the drink feel heavy.

The drink is named after Daiquirí, a place near Santiago de Cuba that has been described as a beach, village, and iron mine. The cocktail is usually credited to Jennings Cox, an American mining engineer working in Cuba around the time of the Spanish-American War, before spreading to the United States through the Army and Navy Club in Washington, D.C. Simple, balanced, and endlessly influential, the Daiquiri remains one of the essential classic rum cocktails.
