1. Chill a martini glass.
2. Add star anise to a mixing glass and muddle gently.
3. Add remaining ingredients to the mixing glass.
4. Add ice and stir until well chilled (15–30 seconds).
5. Strain into the chilled glass.
6. Garnish with a star anise.
