About the Between the Sheets cocktail
The Between the Sheets is a classic split-base cocktail made with cognac, white rum, orange liqueur, and lemon juice. It is closely related to the Sidecar, but the addition of white rum makes the drink feel a little brighter, leaner, and more tropical while still keeping the dry warmth of brandy underneath.
Cocktail history usually links the Between the Sheets to Harry’s New York Bar in Paris in the 1930s, though other stories connect it to London’s Berkeley Hotel in the 1920s. Wherever it started, the drink remains a sharp, citrusy classic with orange and lemon up front, cognac richness in the middle, and a clean white-rum snap on the finish.
