About the Porn Star Martini cocktail

The Porn Star Martini is a bold modern classic made with vanilla vodka, passion fruit liqueur, passion fruit purée, and vanilla sugar, served with a shot of sparkling wine to sip alongside or pour over the top. It is tropical, vanilla-sweet, and theatrical, with little in common with a traditional Martini besides the glass.

The cocktail was created in 2002 at the Townhouse bar in London. It was first called the Maverick Martini, after a Cape Town strip club the creator had visited, then renamed because he thought it was a drink a porn star would order. In 2019, Marks & Spencer renamed its canned version Passion Fruit Martini after public pressure over the original name.

Ingredients

1 1/2 ozVanilla vodka

1/2 ozPassionfruit liqueur

2 barspoonsVanilla sugar

1 1/2 ozPassion fruit puree

1 1/2 ozSparkling wine

Instructions

Chill a martini glass.
Add vanilla vodka, passionfruit liqueur, passion fruit purée, and vanilla sugar to a shaker.
Add ice and shake until well chilled (about 10–15 seconds).
Strain into the chilled martini glass.
Serve with the sparkling wine as a shot on the side.
