About the Long Island Iced Tea cocktail
The Long Island Iced Tea is a famously boozy highball made with vodka, tequila, rum, gin, triple sec, lemon, simple syrup, and cola. Despite the name, it contains no iced tea; it only looks like one. The stacked spirits disappear under cola and citrus, making a drink that is easy to mix, easy to drink, and stronger than it tastes.
It is one of the few IBA classics included more for popularity and reputation than for refinement. That is also its place: a party drink that catches you up quickly, built from a crowded recipe that somehow still works as a tall, cola-colored classic.
