The Rumba

The Rumba is a cocktail with a little bounce to it. Gin, white rum, lime, and grenadine come together in a drink that is slightly tart, fruity, and immediately refreshing. It has the brightness of a good citrus cocktail, with enough fruitiness to make it feel playful and easygoing.

The fun of the Rumba is the back-and-forth between the lime, grenadine, and spirits. Lime gives the drink its snap, grenadine brings a juicy red-fruit sweetness, and the gin and rum keep it firmly in cocktail territory. It is bright and cheerful, but not thin or one-dimensional.

The split base adds complexity underneath that refreshment. Gin brings crisp botanicals and a clean edge, while white rum adds a softer, sunnier sweetness. Neither spirit is at the front of the palette; together, they give the drink more shape than it would have with either one alone.

That makes the Rumba feel easygoing without being boring. It is cold, colorful, and lively, with a sweet-tart rhythm that keeps each sip dancing on your tongue. Serve it with a lime wedge, and it feels exactly like the kind of drink that should disappear faster than you expected.
